Genetic Diseases
Breast cancer, ovarian cancer, and genetic testing (NGS/Gene chip + NGS)
BRCA1 and BRCA2 (BRCA1/2) are the genes that normally protect people from getting certain cancers. Women who inherit a mutation in the BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene may greatly increase the risk of developing breast or ovarian cancers. Currently, our lab provides two more tests. Firstly, the NGS method (Next-Generation Sequencing) is available to detect the sequencing of 10 tumor genes that are related to breast and ovarian cancers. Secondly, as the gene chip can capture the whole exon of BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes, a more comprehensive sequencing technique has been developed with NGS. Based on these two advanced technologies, the risks of developing cancers can be accurately detected and calculated, so doctors can help you make earlier decisions for cancer prevention and treatment.
